Nazek is currently pursuing her MSc degree in Microsystems Engineering from Masdar Institute of Science and Technology (MIST), Abu Dhabi, UAE, under the supervision of Professor Ammar Nayfeh. She joined MIST in September, 2012.
Nazek completed her BSc in Computer and Communication Engineering at Hariri Canadian University, Meshref, Lebanon, in May, 2012, with a CGPA of 94.8%. Her BSc project was designing an interface that will let people control the television through hand gestures (Software: Matlab and Hardware: microcontrollers).
Nazek has undergone a 2 months training at King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST) along with Saudi Oger Company, Thuwal, Saudi Arabia. During this training, she learned about the data communication protocol for building automation that is used at KAUST, called “BACnet”. She has operated and configured building automation system through the software “Envision for BACtalk”, monitored HVAC systems, and designed the sequence logic for the annunciation of an alarm using Microsoft Visio. Also, during this training, she designed and programmed Audio/Visual control systems using “Crestron” software.
Nazek’s current research topic at Masdar Institute is about 3D memory devices. Her research interest include the design and analysis of novel structures for switching- extending the scaling of devices into the nanoscale, the design of novel architectures for sensing and interacting with the physical environment, and the development of fabrication integration approaches to bring these devices to commercial application.
Nazek’s hobbies include traveling, and all sorts of sports i.e., swimming, playing basketball, tennis, squash...
